4 is the Magic Number

Happy Birthday, Trevor! "Can you believe that I'm a four-year old boy?" He has magically transformed from a boy who peels and breaks crayons to a very conscientious coloring artiste within the last two weeks. And he went to "Pleasure Island" and didn't have a meltdown when it was time to depart. Now this, I can live with!

Birthday Breakfast Cereal

He wanted a "Jelly-Butter" Cake (PBJ), we compromised with his two favorites: chocolate and peanut butter.

We went for a Birthday Bike Ride. Now anytime he wants to ride his bike, it's "Can we go for another Birthday Bike Ride?"

A Taste Of Fall

We had the great fortune of hopping a military flight to San Diego and were able to visit the Bradleys and catch the Boyles while they were vacationing in California. It was so invigorating to feel the autumn nip in the air and enjoy soup, cocoa, and baking. Lots of fun memories were made.

First Furlough Friday

Our first furlough day did not find us protesting on the steps of the Capitol. Or summarizing passages from Plato's Republic. Or even opening a workbook. We decided to try "cocoa puffs" from Liliha Bakery in Honolulu.
It's a cream puff with chocolate filling and some kind of macadamia nut-tasting topping.

We spent the day at the beach, catching crabs and wondering what to make of a 3 1/2 day school week from now on. It's a gift in a way, having more time to be together. We'll adapt. There are certain advantages to having time to structure yourself.
